When someone is placed under arrest in the county of Santa Barbara, they will usually be booked at either the Santa Barbara County Jail or the Sheriff’s Substation in Santa Maria. The Main Jail receives new bookings directly from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Patrol and other police agencies in the local area. This includes the Santa Barbara Police Department, the University Of California Police (UCSB), and the California Highway Patrol.
The Santa Maria Jail Facility is a remote booking location that houses inmates for up to 96 hours. For people arrested in Lompoc, they are held at the police department’s city jail until their first court date. Inmates from these two locations are held temporarily until released or transferred to Santa Barbara Jail. Inmates from the Santa Maria Branch Jail are routinely transported to and housed at the Main Jail facility. For inmate information regarding bail bonds, please call us at 805-963-1233.
